Inishowen Football League Season Kicks Off on Sunday 23rd August 2026

Inishowen Football League Season kicks off Sunday 23rd August.

The 2026-27 Inishowen League season gets underway next weekend with the group stages of both the Clubman Shirts League Cup and the Charlie O’Donnell Memorial cup. The draws held at a delegate meeting  Monday 10th August  resulted as follows:

Clubman Shirts

Group   A  Group B Group C
Illies Celtic  Buncrana Hearts Carn FC
QPS Greencastle FC Cockhill Youths
Aileach FC Clonmany Shamrocks  Culdaff FC

The three group winners along with the best runner up will qualify for the semi finals  and there are a number of interesting ties. There are two new managerial appointments with Declan Sharkey at the helm in Greencastle and Brendan McLaughlin in a player manager role in Culdaff. Group A  & C could be tight affairs but on last seasons form Aileach and Carn FC  will be the favourites to emerge although  Cockhill Youths could  be the surprise package after their excellent season in Division One . Group B looks to be a straight  fight between Buncrana Hearts and Clonmany Shamrocks given the  difficulties Greencastle have had in the off season.

Charlie O’Donnell Memorial Cup

Group   A  Group B Group C
Dunree United Sea Rovers  Cockhill Res
Glengad United  Buncrana Res  Aileach Res
Carn Youth  Redcastle United Moville Celtic

Holders  Carn Youths have been drawn in group A and under new manager Kevin Doherty will be hoping to launch a staunch defence of their title.  On last years league form Glengad United would be the favourites to emerge from this group  but it would be no surprise if any of the other two teams came out on top. In Group  B  Redcastle United , relegated from the premier division last season , are under new manager Kevin McLaughlin and they will be favourites to emerge from this group.  All three teams in the group have new managers with Joey Holland taking over at Rovers and Gerard Boyle in charge of Buncrana Res. In group C promoted Moville Celtic  will be hoping to carry on from where they left off last season when they face Cockhill Res and Aileach Res under new manager Dermot Doherty. As with the Clubman Shirts the three group winners along with the best runner up will go to the semi finals.
