History:
Aileach was formed in the 1970’s but went into extinction in the early 1980’s. In 1993, the club was reformed when a group of disgruntled Bridgend Celtic players decided to try to provide football for the young players in the parish of Fahan, Burt & Inch. The club also included teams at underage level. By 1996/97, the club has introduced a reserve team and won its first trophy by capturing the first division title. The first team also reached its first cup final, losing on penalties to Moville Celtic after a replay. Relegation followed the following season but in 1999, Aileach returned to the top flight by again winning the first division, they also reached the final of the Fruit of the Loom Cup but were beaten by Clonmany Shamrocks. In 2001, Aileach reached another cup final losing to Culdaff again on penalties. Another relegation followed, but the club returned to the premier division in 2004 after completing the first division undefeated. By 2004, the club had grown so much that the committee decided that Aileach were going to have to develop a pitch of their own. We identified a field and started fundraising to develop it. In 2007, we were allocated a grant towards the cost of the development of the pitch. In 2008, we reached another cup final, this time in the Knockalla Shield and were narrowly beaten by Swilly Rovers of the Ulster Senior League. Our new pitches were officially opened in August 2010 by Eddie Murray, Treasurer of the FAI. A four team tournament was organised to celebrate the opening of the new pitches involving Aileach, Preston North End, Derry City and Inishowen League Select, with Aileach victorious in the final after overcoming both Preston and Inishowen. Aileach have now opened their new indoor Astroturf facility at Lakeside, Burnfoot, Co. Donegal.
Aileach FC won the Jackie Crossan Premier Division for the first time in 2011/12 season their reserves won the reserve league shield in 2011/12
