Played in driving heavy showers last night Gleneely opened the scoring in the third minute when Shane Diver powerfully headed home from six yards following a Billy McCann corner.
Rasheeny equalised in the 20th minute when Aaron Cregan nipped in when the home defencefailed to clear to poke past Adrian Duffy in the home goal. But Gleneely regained the lead after a Billy McCann long throw into the Rasheeny box resulted in Matthew Doherty heading home from close range. A minute later Gleneely increased their lead when a long diagonal ball from Emmett O’Brien released Matthew Doherty on the wing and his pin point cross found Shane Diver to slot home from five yards. Rasheeny pulled one back ten minutes after the break when a free kick from John Grant hit the post and rebounded back of keeper Duffy’s body and over the line. Gleneely should have increased their lead when Manus Doherty’s free, hit the post and Shane Divers follow up some how stayed out. Both teams were reduced to 10 men following and altercation off the ball. The home side were to rue their missed chances when Aaron Cregan scored his second after hesitancy in the home defence allowed him to slot low to Duffy’s left with only minutes left.
