It was the home side who had the better of the opening half and they duly took the lead after a Tyler McEleney cross was superbly headed past Ciaran Gallagher by Pearse McCarron. But the visitors levelled from the penalty spot on 22 minutes with Kyran Cantwell sending Killian McCarron the wrong way from the spot after he had been upended.

Clonmany had a good chance then five minutes later when McCarrons shot from twenty five yards was parried by Gallagher but the loose ball fell to Tieman McDonald who lifted the ball over Gallagher but also over the bar. McDonald had he final chance of the half when he collected a McCarron pass but saw his effort deflected wide. But the visitors dominated the second half and Ryan Tabbitt had an early effort tipped around the post by McCarron.  Gleneely went ahead on 54 minutes when Cantwell latched onto a long ball up the left and fired cross goal where Mark McGonigle slotted home from a tight angle. They increased their lead on 66 minutes after a corner from Cian McNamee was met by a header from Cantwell from six yards to the roof of the net. They then made it four when Shane Divers cross from the left was controlled by Cantwell who hit a half volley across goal for Paul Doherty to slot past McCarron as the visitors advance to the next round.

The colts began well with Mark Moran finding Gavin Doherty but his effort was saved by Dillon Porter before a scramble in the home area saw Gavin Bradley clear the ball off the line. Aileach replied before the break when Bradley released Stephen Doherty but his effort was well smothered by Graham Doherty in the visitors goal as the half ended scoreless.  Cockhill opened the scoring when they were awarded a disputed penalty with Cormac Ferguson red carded for a handball and Sean McHugh also red carded for dissent. Eddie Mckinney despatched the spot kick to put the visitors in front. But the home side rallied and got back on terms when Emmet McCarron converted a penalty in the 62nd minute after Bradley was upended.  Cockhill responded immediately and regained the lead within a couple of minutes after Gavin Dohertys cross  found the unmarked Ciaran McGrory to head past Porter. Aileach pressed hard for an equaliser but were caught on the break in the final minute when Kevin Mcdaid broke clear and finished low past Porter.

The home side had the first chance in the ninth minute after Dylan Cooke fed Girts Dzerins who laid it off for Marek Scott  who fired just wide. Buncrana responded and took the lead on 12 minutes when Gerry Gill broke on the right wing and crossed  for Hugh Aaron McGonagle who drove a powerful shot to the top right corner of the net from twelve yards. Carn equalized midway through the half when Tiernan Diver   despatched a twenty five yards free to the top corner. Carn then took the  the lead on 33 minutes  after Scott broke on the left wing and crossed for Olly Coyle to powerfully head home from five yards.. Buncrana however equalized within minutes  when a Thomas Adair cross came off the defender and Eoin McNamee was there to slot it home from twelve yards. Carn regained the lead again before the interval after  Girts Dzerins broke on the left and  rounded the defender before laying the ball off for Shay McDaid who slotted low to the corner from fifteen yards. Carn had a chance to double their lead  on 52 minutes when sub Dayton Cooke made a great pass from midfield found Shay McDaid who went one on one with Buncrana keeper Eoin O’Doherty but shot low to the left and wide from 12 yards. Buncrana went close midway through the half after Liam Duncan passed to Eoin McNamee who rounded the defender but shot just wide. Buncrana eventually got the equalizer on 80 minutes after Keith Elliott was fouled in the area and Seannan Murphy converted the resulting penalty. Carn had a chance to regain the lead in extra time when sub Seanan Grant broke on the left wing, rounded the defender and crossed it for Mark Scott who headed  wide when well placed. Buncrana replied in the second period  with a Cian Gleeson  cross which found  Hussein Hassan but his header was off target. In the shootout it was the visitors who emerged winners on a four two scoreline.

Carrowmena got a dream start to this game and scored twice in the opening five minutes. Firstly on two minutes an attempted clearance by a home defender cannoned of  Cathal Crumlish and flew past Conor Doherty in the home goal. Then Crumlish brilliantly controlled a long ball inside the area before sidestepping a defender and drilling low inside the post. On the half hour Donan Doherty found space to unleash an effort which was saved by Doherty in the Illies goal. Before the break Illies replied with both William Mclaughlin heading over before Neil Moran had a snapshot saved by Rhye Kerr. On the stroke of half time Crumlish completed his hat trick after a corner fell to Paul Doherty who returned the ball across for Crumlish to fire to the roof of the net. Illies began the seconds half well and reduced the deficit on 57 minutes when veteran Aiden Doherty turned superbly inside the area to drill low past Kerr. Shane Devlin then had a half chance but shot straight at Kerr when well placed. Illies were then dealt a further blow after keeper Doherty received a red card for a professional foul just outside the area. Carrowmena sealed the tie late on after Crumlich broke through and squared the ball for Paul Doherty to slot home.

The visitors started well with both David Healy and Sean Og Gallagher drawing good saves from Vernon Kelly in the home goal. Moville hit back and when Danny Murphy raced onto James Gillen s through ball his effort was saved by Jamie  McColgan. McColgan was called into action again when he denied Igor Hreshylov soon after that.   But the visitors broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time when after good work by Marc Wallace on the right he advanced into the area and saw his effort blocked by Kelly but  Wallace followed up to lift the ball over Kelly and into the net.After a quiet start to the second period the Point increased their lead on 66 minutes when Wallace waltzed past two defenders on the left before shooting low past Kelly and into the far corner. Movile rallied and Murphy was denied by the legs of McColgan before the home side got a goal back on 81 minutes when  Mateuz Indyka reacted first inside the area to slot low past McColgan. But the visitors held out in the final minutes to advance.

In a scoreless first half the home side had a couple of chances with Aaron Doherty (G) firing straight at Roger  McGilloway from the edge of the area before Yanga Molodo saw a fine effort superbly tipped round the post. Rashennys best chance came when a log range Callum Doherty effort just cleared the bar. The home side got a dream start to the second half when after a mix up in the visitors defence Aaron Doherty fired home from twelve yards. They went two nil ahead on 55 minutes after Darragh Kerrigan released Molodo  and he calmly fired past McGilloway. This seemed to knock the resistance out of the visitors and Aaron Doherty (C)  converted a Kerrigan cross before the same player tapped in a Keelan Doherty cross on 71 minutes.  A long clearance then from Ryan Wilson deceived McGilloway for the fifth. Aileach completed the scoring on 87 minutes after Oisin Kelly controlled a Kerrigan cross inside the area and slotted home  from sixteen yards.

The first opportunity didn’t arrive until the 20th minute and fell to the home side after a long Seamus Doherty clearance found Joe Doherty but he fired narrowly over the bar from twenty yards. Rasheny replied and  an inswinging James McConalogue corner was well gathered by Michael Mclaughlin  in the home goal. Before the break Caolan McColgan for the home side made ground on the left and saw his cross met by a first time effort from Joe Doherty but he failed to hit the target. Rashenny had the first opportunity of the second half when an Oran McDevitt cross found Gareth McKeever who headed just past the post from six yards. But the home side took the lead hen on 65 minutes after a corner was flicked on by Oran Doherty to Joe Doherty who fired to the roof of the net past Sam Coyle from ten yards. Another corner was cleared to the edge of the area by the Rashenny defence to Fergal Doherty  whose powerful effort was brilliantly saved by Coyle. Rashenny went close then on 81 minutes after a long Adam Doherty clearance found George McGuinness whose effort from the edge of the area flashed inches wide. The home side sealed the victory on 88 minutes when Owen Doherty s clearance was misjudged by the visitors defence allowing Joe Doherty to lob the advancing Coyle from the edge of the area.

In this club derby cup battle second division reserves caused a huge upset when they defeated the first division youths side . The youths had the first opportunity but Danny McDaid failed to hit the target when well placed. At the other end Niall Breslin  got on the end of a corner kick but headed over the bar. The youths responded and McDaid went close again  while  Eoin Colhoun made two good saves to deny  Darragh McDermott and Paul Mullan as the youths cranked up the pressure. But the young reserve side stunned the first division side on 36 minutes when Devin McCarron opened the scoring with a superb volley  from outside the area past Darragh O Donnell. The youths started the second half well and Mullan and McDermott were both denied again by good saves from Colhoun. They did equalise on 66 minutes when McDermott found space and finished clinically low to the corner.    But once again the reserve side hit back and Niall Breslin scored a late winner to cause a huge shock

The home side began well with Ben Holly  denied  by Sean Friel in the visitors goal before a good through ball from Josh Boyle just eluded Mark Murray. At the other end Shane Gordon headed over following a corner. The point responded and Murray headed over from a Cillian McEleney cross before McEleney beat his man but then failed to hit the target. Good work then rom McEleney who drilled a superb ball across the face of goal but there were no takers before Boyle skied an effort over the bar. The home side took the lead on 28 minutes after Boyle advanced from midfield and unleashed a superb effort from twenty five yards to the bottom corner. Rashenny responded well and Shane Dillon saw a shot saved by Lee McColgan before Cormac Dillon fired narrowly over. The last chance of the half fell to the home sides Murray but Friel saved well. After  a quiet start to the second period the home side doubled their lead when Lee Barr fired home from inside the area after the visitors failed to clear. Within minutes they added a third when Boyle cut the ball back from the byeline for McEleney to slot home from six yards. They added a fourth and final goal on 77 minutes when Oisin McIntyre crossed the ball for Darragh McIntyre to slot home. The final chance fell ti McEleney but his effort was well blocked by Friel.

Cockhill started brightly  and after his corner was cleared back to him, Corey McBride’s searching cross to the back post found Peter Doherty but his effort was cleared off the line by Thomas McMonagle.The home side went close again in the fifth minute  when a Christy McLaughlin cross from the left was fired wide by Garbhan Friel at full stretch. Aileach’s first foray forward on  was dangerous when Darren Gallagher was released on the left. His driven cross towards Daniel Doherty was snuffed out  by a great sliding Peter Doherty challenge.  The home side opened the scoring after 21 minutes with a flowing move which  saw McLaughlin free on the left, he cut inside and passed to James Bradley who laid the ball off for Adam Duffy to fire low to the bottom corner past Conan Doherty. Cockhill almost doubled their lead on the half hour when McLaughlin’s cross found Jay Bradley and his well struck effort was saved by Doherty before Aileach had their first effort on target when a Gareth McGlynn free kick was held by Harry Doherty.

The second half continued with Cockhill on top territorially. On 51minutes McLaughlin played a one-two with Bradley but his cross-shot was smothered wide by Doherty. Cockhill’s press paid dividends on 53minutes and McBride played in Bradley but Doherty quickly advanced to save. Aileach broke out and had a dangerous opportunity midway through the half when McGlynn found space on the left. His inviting cross had the defenders backpedalling but Fionn McClure adjusted to produce a great clearance. The home side  doubled their lead on 73minutes after Aileach lost possession in a dangerous area with the ball finding McLaughlin. His cross was blocked with a penalty awarded which Friel slammed home sending Doherty the wrong way. Aileach responded immediately with Daniel Doherty’s fine long-range strike finding the net.

Friel had a great chance to restore Cockhill’s two goal lead but his header from Bradley’s cross was kept out by a great reaction save from Doherty. This proved pivotal as Aileach equalised minutes later when Darren McMonagle rose to head home a free kick from the left from  eight yards  out.Cockhill pushed for the winner and were denied in injury time when James Bradley’s goalbound header was brilliantly tipped round the post by Doherty.

The opening half hour of this game was  a close hard fought affair with defences on top and a lot of the play in midfield. But the home side gradually asserted and Calvin Gallagher had a free well tipped over by Liam McGonigle while from the resultant corner Bart Wesolowski headed just wide.  On 39 minutes a Gallagher cross fell to Eoin Murphy whose goal bound effort was brilliantly blocked by Jason Devlin. The Hearts broke the deadlock minutes before the break when Wesolowski sprayed a ball out to Matthew Brown on the right and his cross was brilliantly taken on his thigh by Keelan Doherty before volleying low past McGonigle for a superb finish. Clonmany started the second half very well with the introduction of Aaron Porter causing the home side plenty of problems. On 62 minutes Terence Dohert fed Shane McCaul whose effort was superbly tipped around the post by Taylor Clarke. But the home defence failed to deal with the corner and Doherty poked home from close range for a deserved equaliser.  The visitors went close again on 78 minutes when Porter s twenty yards effort flash just wide with Clarke stranded. Buncrana rallied and regained the lead then in the 82nd minute  after Keelan Doherty s corner was met by a brilliant Aaron McDaid header to the far top corner. Clonmany threw everything at the home side in the closing stages but the home defence stood firm to claim a crucial three  points.

Carn got a perfect start to this game on three minutes after a  Callum Kelly corner was headed down by Ciaran O’Kane to Mark Doherty who slotted the ball home  from five yards. Carn nearly doubled their lead on  when Conor McLaughlin went on a great run on the right wing beating the keeper  and laying it off for Mark Doherty who somehow failed to hit the target from eight yards. Greencastle nearly equalized midway through the half when Christy Hegarty broke on the left  and crossed for Shaun Cavanagh who fired wide from.

Carn had another chance to double their lead when Ross Farren  laid it off for Cade Cooke who shot high and wide.  Carn had  the first  chance of the  second half when Conor McLaughlin crossed for Lorcan Bradley who headed  wide from twelve yards. Greencastle  replied and  when Shay Doherty  rounded the defender and laid it off it  to  Shea McLaughlin he failed to hit the target when well placed. Carn then doubled their lead on 66 minutes after Conor McLaughlin made a great run on the right  and crossed for Ross Farren whose shot came off the Greencastle defender and the rebound fell to Farren again and he shot into the roof of the net .  Carn made it three a minute later after Kelly’s corner from the righted swerved  into the net. Carn completed the scoring with  Lorcan Bradley  crossing from the right for  Tiernan Diver who drove a powerful shot to the  roof of the net.

Illies got off to a flying start and broke the deadlock in the 10th minute after Paul Duffy burst into the area and fired high past Josh McConelogue in the visitors goal. Redcastle replied midway thought the half and when Shaun Curran picked out Darragh McConway with a superb cross his header was brilliantly saved one handedly by Johnathan Noone. Illies then struck for a second goal on 33 minutes after Duffy again ran at the Redcastle defence and unleashed an effort which McConalogue parried well   but Paul Doherty was on hand to fire to the roof of the net. Illies began the second half well and increased their lead when Paul Doherty split the visitors defence for Michael Owen Doherty  to lift the ball superbly over McConalogue and make it three nil.  Duffy and Jamie McDaid combined superbly then on the edge of the area allowing McDaid to slot home his sides fourth of the game. Redcastle kept batlling and McConway was denied by a stunning left hand save from Noone.  They got a late consolation after a defensive error allowed  McConway to capitalise and slot home.

Sea Rovers                           5

Sea Rovers went one up after 10 minutes when Christy McDaids long ball over the top sent Matthew Mooney through and he lobbed the ball over Michael McCole from twenty yards for an excellent finish. They made it two after 20 minutes after Christy McDaids shot from twenty yards found the top corner. Redcastle replied  when Darragh Leech went through but keeper Mark McLaughlin was quickly off his line to smother the ball at his feet. Sea Rovers went close again with  Christy McDaids shot from ten yards was superbly  turned round the post by McCole. Rovers made a fast start to second half and were awarded a penalty after Matthew Doherty was brought down. From the resulting penalty  McCole made a brilliant save from Doherty saving low down to his right.  Five mins later Doherty made amends when he volleyed home a cross from Matthew Mooney. After 70 minutes Redcastle got a goal back after brilliant link up play between Gordon Steele and Darren Harkin sent Harkin through and he scored high into the net from fifteen yards. But the visitors replied instantly after a pass from McDaid put Mooney through and he made no mistake from ten yards. Redcastle kept trying and scored a second goal five minutes from the end when good hold up play from Gary Kelly resulted in Brendan Murphy bursting through to hammer the ball into the net from ten yards. In injury time Sea Rovers had the final say when a shot from Conor McCloskey took a deflection to wrong foot McCole and land in the bottom corner.

 

Inishowen Engineering Division Two   A

Glengad had the first opportunity in the 5th minute after Jayden McDaid rounded a defender and unleashed a low  shot which Jack O’Brien superbly turned around the post. At the other end Matthew McLaughlin’s low effort was superbly turned around his left hand post by Ronan Lafferty. The visitors opened the scoring when Shane McGuinness beat his man and crossed for McLaughlin to head to the roof of the net from eight yards.Before the break Cormac Mclaughlin unleashed an effort  but again Lafferty was equal to it. Carn upped the tempo on the restart and pinned the home side back for long spells. But they had to wait until the 70th minute to add a second goal after Kayden Taitt advanced on the left and evaded a couple of tackles before firing high to the net from ten yards. Mclaughlin then had another gilt edged chance when he broke clear but was denied by a brilliant finger tip save from Lafferty. Taitt added a third goal to seal the points when he fired a stunning half volley to the top corner from twenty yards. Glengad kept trying and in the closing stages both Jason Mullarkey and Gavin McColgan took good saves from O’Brien.
