Clubman Shirts League Cup
Redcastle United 0
Carn FC 7
An understrength home side struggled from the start and it was no surprise the visitors took the lead on 15 minutes when Mark McLaughlin fed Kyran Cantwell who crossed to Shay McDaid and he fired past Stephen Teles in the home goal. Midway through the half they made it two nil after Teles failed to hold Michael McDermotts cross allowing McDaid to pounce and stab home his second.
They made it three nil in the 36th minute with Cantwell beating his man and crossing to Liam McWeeney to score with a low finish. Before half time Redcastle responded with Shaun Curran s attempted lob from distance just clearing Daniel McDaids crossbar. Any thoughts of a comeback were quickly dispelled as Carn made it four nil minutes after the restart when McWeeney crossed for Cantwell to slot low past Teles. After Teles had saved well to deny Cantwell the ball broke to Riss Farren to add their fifth goal . Before the hour mark Carn made it six nil when McDermott broke through the home defence and rounded Teles to score. The home side kept battling and when Mark Farren crossed to Caillou O Kane his effort flashed just wide. Carn completed the scoring when a Mark Mclaughlin cross was sidefooted home by McDaid from close range to seal their semi final spot.
Buncrana Hearts 1
Clonmany Shamrocks 1
After defeats in their opening games both sides knew they needed a big win to have any chance of reaching the semi finals. The home side started well and took the lead on 9 minutes after Mokhtar Bousaria crossed to Hugh Aaron McGonagle who powered a header to the top corner. But Clonmany responded well and Terence Doherty flashed a header just wide before he flicked a Jamie McKinney cross goalwards but Taylor Clarke blocked superbly with his legs. Clonmany levelled in contentious fashion when they were awarded a hotly disputed penalty kick and Doherty made no mistake from the spot. Clonmany continued on top and Doherty saw a header tipped over by Clarke before Aaron Porter cut inside from the left but again Clarke saved. Buncrana started the second period well and had most of the goal mouth action. Liam Jordan had an early effort saved by Johnathan Noone before Kevin O Loughlin at full stretch headed over a James Adair free. On 80 minutes a Jack Gill corner found O’Loughlin whose header was gathered at the second attempt by Noone. The final chance also fell to the Hearts when Bousaria broke clear but saw his effort saved by Noone and when the loose ball fell to Jordan his follow up came back off the post and was cleared as both sides had to settle for a point.
Aileach FC 9
Culdaff FC 0

(Above, Darren McMonagle 3 goals & Gavin Bradley 4 goals)
The home side knew they needed a comprehensive win and they had that sewn up at half time against a young and inexperienced Culdaff. They started on the front foot and after some sustained pressure went ahead on 15 minutes when Gavin Doherty got space down the right and crossed for Gavin Bradley who controlled on his chest and finished well low past Odhran Douglas in the Culdaff goal. Five minutes later number two came along when the same player got possession inside the box following a scramble and swivelled smartly finishing high past Douglas from 12yards. Within minutes it was three after Ethan Doherty cut in from the right and fired goalwards his effort taking a deflection wrong footing Douglas and ending up in the net. The young Culdaff outfit were battling hard but were under almost constant pressure and the home side hit three quick fire goals within ten minutes. Firstly Gavin Bradley completed his hat trick with a fine curling finish from just inside the box then Darren McMonagle had a tap in from close range before Bradley hit a fourth after a defensive error. As half time approached Aileach added two more through Darren McMonagle following a corner when the ball broke to him six yds out and a pile driver from Reece McGilloway from all of 25yards. Aileach gave some of the younger players a run out in the second half but Culdaff were still finding it difficult to create much and Douglas pulled off some fine saves from Bradley and McMonagle. On 80minutes Darren McMonagle got his hat trick when a good one two between himself and Gavin Doherty allowed him a clear run on goal and he finished low past Douglas from a narrow angle to complete the scoring.

Sea Rovers 3
Gleneely Colts 1
Sea Rovers began well and had an early chances when Conor Mc Closkey got through on the keeper only for Nimai Osio to save well. Rovers took the lead on 11 minutes after a good run down the right wing from Mc Closkey who took the ball into the area to beat the keeper this time with a low finish . Mc Closkey was denied a second time by a goal line clearance from Nathan Doherty in the Colts defence. The home side then doubled their advantage before the break after a Declan Mc Gonagle effort was well blocked only for the rebound to fall to Mc Closkey to slot home from close range. A more settled Gleneely side in the second period but chances were few from both sides. A Gleneely corner and a half clearance by Rovers only went as far as Conor Kelly to slot home from twelve yards and reduce the deficit. But in the last attack of the game from Rovers a ball crossed in by Conor Mc Closkey was fired home by Conor Mc Laughlin to seal all three points for the home side.
Dunree United 5
Greencastle FC 6
There was an explosive start to the game with Dunree going ahead on 2 minutes after Jamie Brosnan (pictured right ) cured a superb free from the edge of the area past Sean McNeil to the top corner. But the visitors got back on terms immediately when Seamy Mclaughlin threaded a ball through to Luke McFadden to shoot low past Oran Doherty. Greencastle then took the lead when McLaughlin beat his man on the edge of the area and tucked the ball low past Doherty. In a carbon copy the visitors made it three one with Mclaughlin running at the home defence and slotting low past Doherty from twelve yards. But Dunree battled back and when Cian Moran intercepted a defensive pass he beat a defender and rounded McNeil to slot home. But the visitors had the final say of the half after Mc Fadden fed Cian Sharkey on the edge of the area and he fired a superb effort to the top corner. The second half continued in the same vein and Dunree for it back to four three when after brilliant work by Adam Barrett who found Eoin Coombes to lay the ball for Brosnan to slot home from close range. But the visitors restored their two goal lead after a goal mouth scramble allowed Jamie McCormick to poke the ball home in a crowded area. Again the home side would not lie down with Moran threading a pass through for Brosnan to run on to and fire past McNeil to complete his hat trick. It looked like they had salvaged a point when Adam Whoriskey got on the end of an Eamon Fullerton free kick to head home and make it five all. But in the final minute a speculative McCormick effort deceived Doherty and crept under the bar to give the visitors the points.
Glengad United 1
Cockhill RES 0
The home side began well with Jayden McDaid releasing Caolan McColgan but he was denied by Eoin Colhoun who recovered well to block McDaids follow up. McDaid had another chance when he broke clear but Colhoun advanced to block well. Cockhill replied with Cahir Mcdaid unlucky to see his effort crash off the bar while on the stroke of half time Ethan O Toole saw his close range effort cleared off the line by Brendan Doherty as the half ended scoreless. Glengad started the second half well and broke the deadlock on 48 minutes when Seamus Doherty fed his brother Joe who turned and unleashed a superb twenty five yards effort low into the bottom corner. Defences were then on top until the 77th minute when the visitors Cahir McDaid fired narrowly wide from the edge of the area. The visitors then suffered a blow after Shay Devlin was redcarded for foul play and the home side saw the game out to claim the points and a semi final spot.
Cockhill Youth 6
Carn Youth 1
Cockhill Youth scorers Joe Lavery 4, PJ Doherty & Stephen Duffy
This group decider saw the home side take the lead on 16 minutes after Garbhan Friel advanced on the right and pulled the ball back for Stephen Duffy to slot past Ben Miller from twelve yards. Carn replied and Olly Coyle saw an effort saved by Darragh O Donnell before Dayton Cooke was unlucky to see his effort strike the post. The home side doubled their lead before the interval after Joe Lavery controlled on the edge of the area and beat a defender before shooting to the roof of the net. Five minutes after the break Friel released Lavery to control and finish well to the bottom corner. The visitors rallied and when Tiernan Diver found Coyle he slotted low past O Donnell to make it three one. But within a minute Cockhill struck again with Lavery completing his hat trick converting a Paul Mullan cross. On 78 minutes PJ Doherty despatched a twenty five yards free into the bottom corner and the home side added a sixth on the stroke of full time with Lavery getting his fourth of the game when he sidefooted home a Liam Grant cross.

Inishowen Engineering Division Two
Rashenny FC 3
Redcastle United Res 2

In an all action first half the home ide opened the scoring on 11 minutes when Shea Grant and Oran McDevitt combined to lay the ball off for David Mclaughlin to fire in off the post from ten yards past Michael McCole. Grant then cut in from the right and unleashed a fine effort but McCole made a superb save. The visitors responded and equalised on 19 minutes when Connaire Doherty fed Shay Sweeney who advanced not the area and drilled a low effort from sixteen yards past Sam Coyle. But the home side regained the lead then minutes later when a long ball from Peter Doherty (S) was collected by David Mclaughlin who rounded the stranded McCole to slot home. Redcastle had a spell then with Doherty unmarked heading wide before Sweeney flashed a free kick from the edge of the area narrowly wide. Rashenny replied with a dangerous Conor McDaid cross superbly headed clear by Niall Leithch before Mclaughlin firstly was off target from twenty five yards and then just failed to connect with another McDaid cross. Anthony Doherty for the home side was next to try his luck but again was just off target from twenty yards. Redcastle rallied and drew level for the second time on 43 minutes when Sweeney strode forward unchallenged and from thirty yards fired a stunning effort to the roof of the net. But on the stroke of half time Rashenny took the lead for the third time after Grant saw his effort superbly parried by McCole but Grant retrieved the ball and rounded McCole to drill home. The home side dominated the second half but a superlative display from McCole kept them at bay. Both David Mclaughlin and Shea Grant had efforts saved before McCole made a brilliant stop to keep out a powerful header from McLaughlin. Conor McDaid then ran onto Mclaughlin’s through ball and his attempted lob just cleared the crossbar. The final action of the game saw substitute Patrick Doherty denied once again by McCole as the home side bounced back from last weeks upset.

Illies Res 5
Rashenny RES 1
In a poor first half it was the visitors who opened the scoring midway through the half when the ball broke inside the home penalty area for JJ Doherty to shoot high past Conor Doherty from fifteen yards. But Illies replied and equalised before the interval after a Nathan Mclaughlin effort was well parried by Roger McGilloway only for Michael Grant to react first to drill home. Illies upped the tempo on the resumption and took the lead when Shane Devlin broke into the area and cooly lifted the ball over the advancing McGilloway. On the hour mark the home side made it three one when after Devlins cross was not cleared Henry Doherty pounced to drill low to the corner. It stated like this until they added a fourth goal on 81 minutes after a scramble inside the area saw Liam O Connor fire home from the edge of the area. Illies completed the scoring on 88 minutes after Devlin played a neat one two with Neil Moran before lifting the ball over McGilloway.
Carrowmena FC 2
Culdaff Rovers 2
The visitors were dangerous from the outset with Dermot Diver and Anthony Kelly prominent. But the home side opened the scoring on 14 minutes when Adam Harkin s cross was not cleared and found Mark McGonigle at the back post to fire past Gavin McLaughlin. At the other end a corner to the back post where Diver s downward header went just wide of Jamie McGeoghaghans upright. Culdaff drew level just before the break after a deep cross from Diver was headed across by Eugene Mclaughlin for Kelly to slot home from six yards. The home side began the second half well with a Daniel Rowan effort from distance just past the post. On 55 minutes Andrew Mclaughlin made ground on the right and his driven cross found Cathal Crumlish who turned and shot first time just wide. On 75 minutes a long clearance collected by Rhys Davenport who crossed for Crumlish to round Mclaughlin and slot home. Carrowmena missed a good chance to extend their lead when Rowan released Rhys Dillon but his effort from sixteen yards was superbly smothered by Mclaughlin. The visitors snatched a point in injury time when a poor clearance fell to John Gerard Mclaughlin who drilled a low effort to the bottom corner for a share of the spoils.
Moville Res 5
Glengad Res 1
This was an entertaining game which saw both teams play good spells of football throughout. Moville were just the more clinical team. Jay Doherty was the first to threaten for Glengad when he saw his curling strike from 25yards clip the outside of the post with the keeper beaten. Moville grew into the game and were awarded a penalty when Harry Connaughton was upended in the box. Evan Hudner made no mistake from the spot, low into the bottom right corner. Glengad equalised when Thomas McKinley found himself free in the box and he shot high over the onrushing Rhys Kerr. McKinley was unlucky shortly after to see another chance hit the post. Moville increased their lead before half time when Hudner scored again after the ball broke kindly to him in the six yard box. Glengad remained a threat all second half with Reece Diver causing problems for the Moville defence. But Moville made it three one on the hour mark when Connaughton’s corner was met by Mateusz Indyke at the back post and he headed into the top corner from point blank range. Connaughton got himself on the scoresheet when he finished well into the bottom corner after Danny Murphy had set him up. Mullarkey for Glengad saw a header well saved by Kerr after he met John McDaid’s free kick. Conditions became difficult from then on as the weather deteriorated. Moville wrapped the game up with a few minutes left when Murphy’s shot was well saved by McDaid, but Oisin McGroarty was on hand to tap in the rebound and get Moville’s fifth and final goal
QPS Youth 7
Dunree Res 1
After an even opening twenty five minutes QPS took the lead when a mark Wallace cross was headed home by Hugo Curran. Dunree replied and went close after Michael Farrell saw an effort saved by Jamie McColgan. Five minutes into the second half the home side doubled their lead when Ross Nicholas beat his man and fired a superb effort from twenty five yards to the bottom corner. Jack McConalogue then made it three nil with another superb strike to the top corner. Nicholas then added a brace to increase their lead before Dunree got a goal back after a Danny Doherty cross was inadvertently headed to the net by a home defender. But the home side replied and Cillian McEleney crossed for Josh Downey to slot home from close range. They completed the scoring with Nicholas getting his fourth of the game after good work from Downey ahd set him up.
Clonmany Res 3
Cockhill Colts 2
Clonmany began well and on 5 minutes Niall Mclaughlin fed Tyler McEleney whose cross was headed just over by Raymond McDaid. They opened the scoring on 13 minutes when after a corner from the right hand side was cleared to the edge of the area McLaughlin drove the ball through a crowd of players and past Graham Doherty. The home side seemed to lose their way after this and the visitors equalised on 18 minutes when Dylan McEleney advanced unchallenged in midfield and fired a powerful effort from distance past Torin Harkin into the bottom corner. Cockhill took the lead midway through the half when Ciaran McGrory got on the end of martin Bradleys cross to steer a header past Harkin. Clonmany responded before the break with an effort from Joe Doherty which lacked the power to beat Graham in the Colts goal. Clonmany upped the tempo on the restart and Ben Gill saw an effort deflected wide. They got back on terms after a Mclaughlin cross from the left found Gill who headed across Doherty to the bottom corner. Clonmany then struck for the winner on 73 minutes when Tiernan McDonald crossed from the right for Mclaughlin to hammer the ball to the top corner from sixteen yards. Both defences stood firm in the closing stages.
