Clonmany Shamrocks 2

Aileach FC 0

Aileach began well and PJ Millar had an early effort saved by Johnny Noone in the Shamrocks goal. The home side replied in the 10th minute with Shane McCaul running across the edge of the area before feeding Aaron Porter who cut inside but saw his effort turned around the post by Eoin Callaghan.

From the corner kick it was Aileach who broke the length of the pitch and Millar curled an excellent effort just wide. Midway through the half Terence Doherty for the home side advanced into the area and was forced wide where he unleashed a left footed effort which only found the side netting. The home side broke the deadlock on 36 minutes with a superb Jason Devlin pass finding Alex McFadden to slide the ball under the advancing Callaghan. Aileach had the final chance of the half when a Darren McMonagle header from eight yards produced a wonderful one handed save from Noone low to his left.  There was little action until the hour mark when a good break from the home side saw Terence Doherty send Shane McCaul clear  but he failed to hit the target. Doherty then controlled a Porter corner but his blasted effort was well blocked by Callaghan. From the third corner in succession by Porter the ball found Ryan McColgan who poked past the unsighted Callaghan from eight yards. Clonmany had another chance after a Pearse McCarron cross found McFadden who was denied by a last ditch tackle.Aileach then had a chance of a late consolation goal from a Gavin Bradley cross but Millar headed wide.

Buncrana Hearts 1

Carn FC 0

The visitors had an early sight of goal but Mark Scott’s effort was comfortably gathered by Taylor Clarke. The home side then dominated the remainder of the half with Hugh Aaron McGonagle heading over a Liam Quigley cross when he should have done better. Jack Bradley cut inside and unleashed a powerful effort which drew a good save from Daniel McDaid. When McGonagle then fed Bradley his effort was superbly tipped over the bar by McDaid. The Hearts finally broke the deadlock with a Caolan Doherty twenty yards free kick which caught McDaid unawares and the ball ended in the net. As in the first half the visitors had an early chance when they broke from a Hearts corner and when Scott raced clear of the home defence he fired over the bar. Again the home side took control after this let off with Bradley denied by the legs of McDaid who also made excellent saves from McGonagle and Doherty on 54 and 61 minutes. Caolan McConnell then advanced from left back and unleashed a powerful effort which McDaid again saved well. The home side kept pushing and when substitute Shane Dillon found another substitute Adam Curran his effort was turned round the post by the excellent McDaid. The final  chance also fell to the home side and when Bradley’s cross found the unmarked Quigley he blazed wide.

Culdaff had the final chance following an Aidan Cunningham corner which saw Michael Doran’s header well saved by Conor Doherty. Illies substitute Deaglan Bown had the first opportunity of the second half with his well hit shot narrowly wide. Illies almost added a fourth  but Doran cleared an O’Brien effort off the line. They did make it four to one in identical fashion as the third goal with the unmarked Doherty again heading home a corner.
