Inishowen retained the Gregory Kearney Cup with a 1-0 win over SML having led 2-1 from the first leg in the Brandywell last week Brendan Mc Laughlin’s strike on 72 min gave Inishowen a two goal cushion, In an even start to the game that was played at a high tempo the first opportunity arouse on the 12th min when Shane Canning played a ball out to Anthony Doherty who played a low cross into the area for Mc Laughlin his effort was blocked by the legs of Eugene Ferry in the visitors goal the SML replied and Darren Cassidy had a shot saved by Kevin Mc Laughlin in the home net, then Brendan Mc Laughlin got onto a pass from Doherty but his effort was blocked by a defender, then Mc Laughlin turned provider for Doherty but again the keepers legs came to the rescue, Mc Laughlin was unlucky on 29 min when his shot beat Ferry but came back  off the crossbar, D. Mc Gee then had a effort come off the base of the upright for the SML, and Jake Morrow’s shot was deflected forcing keeper Mc Laughlin into a fine save and just before half time the same player had a effort just over at the start of the second half Matty Henry broke clear and shot straight at Ferry, then P.J.Ward headed into the side netting for the SML, Mc Laughlin then had another shot blocked for Inishowen before he struck the all important winner on 72 min a great pull back from Anthony Doherty into the path of Mc Laughlin to  strike low from 12 yards Inishowen controlled the game after that both teams played very enjoyable football over the two legs and gave Inishowen game time in the run up to the Oscar Traynor Trophy next Month
