Greencastle FC 3
Culdaff FC 2
In a lively match where play swung from end to end the home side prevailed as the visitors finished the match with nine players following two dismissals. Greencastle moved in front on 34 minutes when Christy Hegarty’s initial shot was parried by Darragh Mc Laughlin out to Shaun Cavanagh and he scored from 10 yards. Play was evenly balanced then and it was not until the 55th minute that Greencastle increased their lead. Michael Henry crossed into the centre and Hegarty volleyed home from 15 yards. Culdaff dragged themselves back into the game and reduced the deficit when Brendan Fildara found the net when he shot from outside the area. However, Greencastle restored their two goal advantage when Danny Murphy accepted a pass from Kevin Mc Laughlin and with the visitors appealing for offside he raced clear and fired home. Brendan Fildara scored an opportunistic goal from 10 yards with five minutes remaining but the home side held out to claim all three points.
