Carrowmena F. C. vs Rasheney F. C.

Carrowmena started well and on 12 minutes Conor Lafferty had a fifteen yards effort well saved by Kieran Friel. They took the lead in their next attack after a Samuel Bredin effort was blocked by James McConalogue but the  ball ran across for Ryan McDermott to fire low past Friel from close range. They increased their lead on 19 minutes when Conor Radcliffe released Conor Lafferty to beat the offside trap and cooly fire past Friel. Rasheney replied midway through the half and spurned a good chance  after Conor O Neill squared for Damien Friel but from eight yards he fired wide with just Maurice McGeady to beat. They did get a goal back on the half hour when Anthony Doherty pounced on a defensive error and advanced to drill low past McGeady. Carrowmena then had another good chance when Lafferty fed Bredin but he fired over from fifteen yards. Before the break another defensive error allowed Damien Friel gain possession and he was unlucky to see his effort crash back off the post. Rasheney started the second period well but stout defending by Kevin McCauley and Michael Craig kept them at bay. The home side increased their lead on 71 minutes against the run of play after good play ended with Lafferty crossing for substitute Caolan Mullarkey to slot home from six yards. Rasheney battled back and got a goal to reduce the deficit on 87 minutes when an Anthony Doherty cross found Charlie Doherty and he fired low past McGeady and in off the post. Rasheney pushed hard in the closing minutes but the home defence stood firm to claim the points.
