Redcastle United 0
Sea Rovers 2
Played on Wednesday night in Maginn Park Redcastle started well and had a number of chances but were unable to make them count. Harry Mc Quillian and Brendan Murphy had the best of the Redcastle opportunities, Mc Quillian fired over under pressure from the Sea Rovers keeper while Murphy saw his shot blocked by the keeper’s legs. Rovers best chance of the half came from an inswinging corner that was headed wide by Damian Ward. Redcastle appealed for a penalty as half time approached when Sean Curran was bundled over but play was waived on. Sea Rovers began the second half with a strong wind at their backs and they made this count ten minutes in when Pauric Doherty fired a shot past Mc Cole from thirty five yards. Redcastle pushed forward after this setback and Murphy saw a shot strike the base of the post and back into the keeper’s arm. As the half progressed Curran saw an effort cleared away while Joe Mc Cauley was unable to find the target as his shot cleared the bar. Rovers defended with purpose and eventually sealed the points when Ward received the ball from a corner and drilled home high to the net from twenty five yards.
