Illies Reserves 2 – 0 Dunree Reserves
Opening exchanges were fairly even in this encounter. Illies took the lead in the 10 minute when a cross from Stephen McGonagle on the right deflected into the net off the inrushing defender. Dunree hit back to force a succession of corners but last gasp defending saw Illies hold on to their fragile lead. Dunree came closest to an equiliser shortly before half time when a cross from the right deceived everyone and skimmed off the angle of the posts.
The second half started with chances at both ends. Mid way through the second half the all important second goal fell the way of Illies. This came courtesy of two of the clubs new additions from the underage set up which saw Dominick Doherty slip a superb pass in behind the defence which was latched onto by Adrian Donaghey Doherty who finished sublimely to the bottom corner of the net. Dunree continued to press but Illies held out for a hard earned win.
