Illies Res                       0

Gleneely Res                3

Early exchanges were fairly even with both keepers having little to do. The opening goal came on 25 minutes when Illies lost possession in their own half and was quickly seized upon by Corey O’Brien to fire to the bottom right hand corner of the net. Gleneely went further ahead ten minutes later  when a lengthy goalmouth scramble eventually fell to Nathan McLaughlin to shoot low to the net from eight yards. Illies started the second half brightly looking for an early goal to bring them back into the game. However Gleneely broke from defence 10 minutes in to score the vital third goal through Nathan McLaughlin. The highlights of the match thereafter were a succession of fantastic saves by Illies underage goalkeeper Kevin Gallagher. Gleneely went on to see the game out to remain in contention for league honours

Buncrana Res               6

Greencastle started well with a fantastic run by Shaun Downey who fed the ball into Sean Cavanagh who spun to put the ball into the top right hand corner. Just before half time Buncrana levelled the score with a great strike from all of twenty yards out to the top left hand corner from Buncrana’s Mark McFadden.Second half started with Buncrana applying pressure and they took the lead when Puaric O Flaherty pounced on a rebound to slot home. The introduction of

Gerard Boyle  saw him fire  home three goals with the first converting a John O Louglin cross before collecting a James Quigley pass rounding a defender and firing low to the corner. His hat trick came when he headed home a Michael Doherty cross. Boyle then got his fourth of the game when he ran onto a long kick out from Cathal McNutt to slot home. Dan Rowan scored a consolation goal for the home team from 20 yards out.
