Buncrana started well and on 4 minutes Ryan Doherty released Kieran McDaid on the right and he cut inside but saw his effort saved by Thomas McDonagh in the visitors goal. The visitors then had a good spell of possession but failed to create anything of note. On 25 minutes Jamie McDaid saw a cross cum shot clawed away by McDonagh before the ball was recycled out to the left where McDaids pin point cross was slotted home from six yards by Sean Mullan. It got better for the home side on37 minutes with a superb team goal. Adam Curran began the move feeding Sean Mullan who flicked the ball onto Kieran McDaid whose superb cross picked out Jamie McDaid on the edge of the area. He composed himself before drilling a superb effort to the bottom corner from the edge of the area. Buncrana then made it three nil just before the interval when Mullan collected the ball on half way and spread a diagonal pass to the right for Kieran McDaid who beat his marker and from a tight angle clipped the ball over McDonagh to the net. The visitors had an early half chance when Jamie Hamilton found space but his long range effort was comfortable

The Hearts regained the upper hand and increased their lead when  after brilliant work by Kieran McDaid  took him past two defenders he unsrlfishly squared for Mullan to slot home. Midway through the half Mcdaids corner was headed to the roof of the net by Ryan Doherty to make it five nil. Mullan was then denied his hat trick on two occasions when McDonagh made fine saves before at the other end another Hamilton long range shot was saved by Kelly.  Buncrana completed the scoring on 83 minutes after  Mullan cross as deflected to the net by an unfortunate defender.

Redcastle had the first opportunity on 11 minutes after Lee Barr ends Stephen Grant away on the right and his cross was met by Marc Bell whose effort was saved by Patrick  Carr. The home side broke the deadlock on 20 minutes after Alan Clarke beat a defender and slipped the ball into Daragh McConway who turns smartly and fired low to the corner. Whitestrand went close minutes later when  James Tourish crossed from the left for Diarmuid Lynch whose header went just past the left hand post. The visitors then got back on terms on the stroke of half time after Michael Sweeney  collected a long kick out rounded an defender and fired low past Michael McCole. Redcastle began the second half well and on 47 minutes McConway rounded a defender and unleashed a shot which the visitors defence hacked away for a corner. Minutes later Kevin Doherty advanced from midfield for the home side past two defenders but shoots just past the left hand post. Whitestrand responded with Lynch crossing for Sweeney whose effort was cleared by a defender before Gareth Terry advanced through the middle and fire over the bar. The home side upped the tempo then and McConway was denied by a brilliant save low to his right by Carr.  Redcastle took the lead then on 80 minutes after jack Ferry crossed from the left for McConway to head home from eight yards. They sealed their passage to the semi finals when  Cathal Crumlish latched onto a ball over the top before shooting low past Carr.

Aileach Res 2

Strand Rovers 2 Strand Rovers win 4-2  on pens AET

Stephen O Donnell had an early half chance for the home side after good work from Conor McMacken but Kevin McGowan saved well. Rovers replied with  Jordan Saville seeing an effort saved by David McGeady. Before the break the home side  saw a Sean McHugh effort from twenty yards drift wide. Rovers started the second half well and Kieran McGee scuffed a chance when well placed before they were reduced to ten men on the hour after a defender collected a second yellow card. They took the lead on 75 minutes however a poor clearance fell to McGee who slipped the ball low past McGeady from twelve yards. But the home side levelled late on and forced extra time when after good work from Michael McElroy his cross was headed home by Cathal McElhinney. In the first period of extra time the visitors regained the lead when Saville s effort was well parried by McGeady but McGee reacted first to slot home. With time running out Aileach forced a penalty shootout when McElhinney released O Donnell and he squared the ball for Dermot Doherty to tap home. In the shoot out the home side missed two spot kicks and rovers advanced four two on penalties.

 

Greencastle Youth 5

Gweedore United 4

The Game was reversed to Carrickboyle Gweedore and was played in very windy conditions on Saturday evening. Greencastle started the game on the front foot with a couple of early corners but it was  Gweedore took the lead 5 minutes into the game through Jamie McGee who was put through and finished well. Greencastle equalized through Kyle Harkin who after a mazy run through defenders scored a lovely goal into the bottom corner. Midway through the half  Greencastle took the lead when a great pass by Ronan Farran put Ronan Doherty clear and he slid it past the keeper into the far corner. But 

Gweedore drew level when a cross from the right wing fell to Mark McFadden who finished smartly into the  bottom corner. Greencastle regained the lead then when a beautiful lofted pass from Christy Hegerty was met by Ronan Farren whose header looped over the keeper and into the net. But Gweedore scored to level the game for a third time just before half time when a ccramble in the box was slotted home by Stephen Doyle McFadden.It was a very even start to the second half with both teams battling hard for the first 20 minutes.

Midway through the half  Greencastle scored direct from a corner. Joshua Lafferty sent in an in-swinging corner which was deflected into the net by the Gweedore defence to put the Inishowen side four three ahead. Minutes  later Matthew McFadden in nets for Gweedore made a great save from a Shea Doherty effort from the edge of the box. Greencastle increased their lead in the 75th minute Kyle Harkin stepped up to score another trademark free kick. 

With a minute of normal time left Gweedore nearly pulled a goal back when after a few headers over and back the box one bounced of the bar and Greencastle defence cleared. Gweedore piled on the pressure now and a minute into added time Ciaran McFadden was sent through one on one but Evan Davenport made a great save to keep Greencastles two goal advantage intact. Then a  twenty five  yard drive from Mark McFadden brought another fantastic save from Davenport. In the sixth minute of added time Gweedore reduced the deficit to a single goal when Darren Ferry finished at the back post after a low cross which turned out to be the final kick of the game as Greencastle advanced to the semi finals.

The home side started this local derby the better with Fergal Doherty pouncing on a loose ball thirty five yards out and unleashing an effort which clipped the bar on its way over. They took the lead  minutes later after John G McDermott broke on the left and when his cross fell to Stephen McLaughlin he  drilled low to the corner from the edge of the area. Midway through the half they made it two nil after a poor clearance by the visitors was seized on by Joe Doherty whose twenty five yards shot eluded  McLaughlin. Culdaff rallied and finished the half strongly with Ryan Greene finding Jack McLaughlin on the edge of the area and he turned and drilled a left footed effort inches wide. McLaughlin again went close when he collected a Dillon Ruddy pass and advanced to unleash an effort from twenty yards which was again just off target.Culdaff started the second half well and after Keith Norris released Michael Coyle on the right his cross was  cleared to  Ruddy whose effort from the edge of the area was brilliantly saved by Ciaran Gallagher. Then substitute Darren Mullarkey  and Bryan McCandless combined well on the edge of the area but the latters effort was straight at Gallagher. Glengad responded and on 80 minutes after McDermott sent Terence Doherty clear but he fired wide from the edge of the area. Minutes later Doherty made no mistake when  he latched onto a long Matthew Byrne  ball and rounded Mclaughlin to drill home. Culdaff had the final chance after a Norris cross was met with a glancing header from McCandless came off the post.

Clonmany had the better of the early exchanges with Shane McCaul firing weakly at Gallagher in the Aileach goals after a neat one two with Aaron Porter on the edge of the area. On 17 minutes Porter then saw an effort deflected wide after a corner had broken to him. Aileach responded with Darren McMonagle s free skimming the bar before a Gavin Doherty cross was miscontrolled by Aaron Nash when well placed. Doherty then found space to unleash a dipping effort which Kevin McLaughlin tipped over. At the other end Claonmanys Pearse McCarron controlled well on the edge  of the area before firing straight at Gallagher and then Paddy Doherty had a header  also well saved.  Aileach had another chance before the break when Doherty latched onto a ball over the top and advanced into the area but a heavy touch allowed McLaughlin to smother as the half ended scoreless.  Aileach began the second period well with Darren Bradley firing straight at McLaughlin when well placed before Darren McMonagle blazed over from fifteen yards. At the other end Pearse  McCarron had a couple of efforts off target one from a tight angle before Matthew Brennan had a free kick well saved by Gallagher. But Aileach broke the deadlock on 70minutes when a corner broke inside the area and McMonagle fired to the roof of the net. Minutes later the same player was upended inside the area and he himself converted to make it two nil. Clonmany finished the game well with Brennan and McCarron going close with efforts. They got a goal back late on after substitute Jason Devlin saw his twenty yards effort parried by Gallagher but McCarron was on hand to pounce.  But Aileach held firm to claim the points.

This local derby had an explosive start when Greencastle were awarded a penalty in the third minute after Aaron McGurk was upended and Mark Toland fired the resultant spot kick low past Conor Browne. The home side hit back and when Brendan McClenaghan crossed to Nathan Harkin his well hit shot was deflected wide. Greencastle equalised then on 11 minutes after Nigel McMonagle outmuscled a defender and  hammered low past Taylor Clarke. Greencastle dominated most of the half then with McMonagle seeing an effort saved before attempts from Gerry Gill ( freekick), Odhran Kennedy (header) and McMonagle (shot) were all off target. On 43 minutes  Michael Barr saw a looping header drop just over.On the stroke of half time and against the run of play Moville regained the lead. McGurk capitalised on hesitant  defending  to nip in and lob Browne  from eight yards. The visitors increased their lead minutes after the break when Michael McNaught robbed a defender and raced clear to slot home. As in the first half Greencastle took the game to the visitors with Brendan McClenaghan heading wide before Michael Barr saw a header saved. They reduced the deficit to the minimum in the 63rd minute after McMonagle beat a defender and  crossed for Michael Henry to head home from eight yards. The home side were on top at this stage and  both McMonagle and Nathan Harkin were narrowly off target with headers. Moville hit back and went close themselves after a Jake Morrow shot from the edge of the area shaved the post. With the home side pressing the visitors broke on 83 minutes and McGurk beat the offside trap to race clear and drill home. McGurk sealed the win and completed his hat trick in the process when he intercepted a defensive pass and drilled home from fifteen yards.

This top of the table clash was always going to be a close hard fought contest and so it proved as second placed Dunree inflicted a first defeat of the season on the home side. Dunree took the lead on 21 minutes after the home  defence failed to deal with along free kick allowing Liam Baldrick to control and shoot low past Ben Miller. Carn rallied and from a Cade Cooke corner Christopher Diver got on the end of it to slot to the far corner to make it one each. Before the break Dunree had a let off when a defensive miskick looped over Adam Harrigan but bounced off the crossbar.  On the hour mark Harrigan kept the scores level when he tipped a Cooke free kick round the post at full stretch. The home side then lost possession inside their own area on 73 minutes and Mark Moran pounced to slot home from close range. Carn pressed but the closest they came was when a cross from Cooke eluded three inrushing players and the visitors claimed the points.

Moville began well with Danny Murphy seeing a header saved by Stephen Slattery  in the point goal before seeing a  shot well saved by Slattery low to his right in the 10th minute.They took the lead on 22minutes when Conor Lafferty converted a penalty after Oisin Lynch had been upended. The visitors replied and a long range Oisin McIntyre effort was well saved by Stephen Teles. But Moville then increased their lead on 40 minutes when a deep cross from Lynch found Murphy to head home. But the visitors got back into the game on the stroke of half time after McIntyre found space on the edge of the area to drill a superb effort into the bottom corner. Moville upped the tempo after the break and Andrew McCarron fired one chance wide before Michael McCarron was denied by Slattery. The pressure told midway through the half when they increased their lead after Michael McCarron fired a superb free kick from the edge of the area to the top corner. They sealed the points on  83 minutes when Rowan Doherty  ‘s superb pass split the Point defence for Andrew McCarron to run onto and lob the advancing Slattery.

Cockhill started well and took an early lead after Marc Doherty found space  to fire low past Mark McLaughlin on 12 minutes . The visitors increased their lead then when  a cross from Sean Bradley found Kieran Mc Elroy who converted from close range. Rovers responded just before halftime when a Daniel Gallagher shot went over the bar.  Defences were on top for the opening twenty minutes of the half and clear cut chances were few. Rovers  Daniel Gallagher saw a header from a corner go over while Kieran Doherty had an effort saved by Donal Og O Brien in the visitors goal. Despite the home teams efforts Cockhill held firm to continue their recent good form.

After a very tight opening the home side were first to threaten when Cian Moran released Neil Moran but his effort was tipped onto the post by Danny McGonagle and cleared to safety  before  McGonagle turned an Oisin McGettigan effort around the post at full stretch . Glengad replied when Jason Doherty s through ball found PJ McDaid  who blasted over the bar when well placed. Glengad then took the lead on 36 minutes when Ryan McLaughlin s neat pass found McDaid and he tucked the ball low past Philip Doherty. But Dunree equalised within minutes when Ryan Toland collected a clearance from the visitors defence and hammered the ball to the roof of the net from all off thirty five yards. It stayed level until the hour mark when the home side went ahead after Conal McGrory released Evan Barry  who beat a defender and  slotted low to the corner. Glengad then equalised on 77 minutes after a corner saw a scramble develop and Ryan McLaughlin pounced to drill home from close range. With a draw looking likely the visitors forced a corner in the last minute and after the ball broke on the edge of the area Jason Doherty drove powerfully to the top corner to clinch the points.

Redcastle broke the deadlock on 18 minutes after the home defence failed to deal with a long ball and Conor McCallion laid the ball off for Lennon McLaughlin whose shot took a wicked deflection on its way past Michael Noone. Carrowmena responded and after Doherty collected a long clearance from Noone he cut inside but fired over from the edge of the area. The home side levelled  before the break when Mike Price converted a penalty after a handball in the area. The home side started the second half well and took the lead on 51 minutes when Ryan McLaughlin  released Paul McGowan who laid the ball off  for Gerard Gill to curl a shot high past Quigley from twenty yards. They increased their advantage midway through the half  after a diagonal pass from Eddie McIntyre  found Andrew McLaughlin on the right and his cross was slotted home from six yards by Price. Redcastle tried hard in the closing stages but the home side with Mark McGonigle, Mark Doherty and Mike Price dominant stood firm.

Rasheney had the best of the chances in the opening half but  failed to capitalise. The first arrived on 13 minutes after Diarmait Keogh sent Gareth McKeever clear and when he rounded the keeper he blazed over from a tight angle. Aileach replied and had an equally good chance after Ciaran Bradley found space inside the area but his effort was turned round the post by Roger McGilloway. On 36 minutes Rasheneys Abdul Rasheed crossed for Keogh whose first time effort on the half volley flew over the crossbar.  Keogh then had an even better chance when unmarked at the back post he failed to hit the target with the goal gaping as the half ended scoreless. The visitors had the better of the second half with a long range Kevin Wallace effort sailing over before good work from Bradley saw his effort  turned round the post by replacement keeper McKeever. Rashenny had  a gilt edged chance then with Ryan O Donnell s ball  over the top releasing Keogh but his goalbound effort was cleared off the line by Wallace. Aileach then had a good chance to snatch the points on 88 minutes after Bradley laid the ball off to Dillon McGrory  who failed to hit the target when well placed.

Rovers responded just before halftime when a Daniel Gallagher shot went over the bar. Defences were on top for the opening twenty minutes of the half and clear cut chances were few. Rovers Daniel Gallagher saw a header from a corner go over while Kieran Doherty had an effort saved by Donal Og O Brien in the visitors goal. Despite the home teams efforts Cockhill held firm to continue their recent good form.

Glengad then took the lead on 36 minutes when Ryan McLaughlin s neat pass found McDaid and he tucked the ball low past Philip Doherty. But Dunree equalised within minutes when Ryan Toland collected a clearance from the visitors defence and hammered the ball to the roof of the net from all off thirty five yards. It stayed level until the hour mark when the home side went ahead after Conal McGrory released Evan Barry who beat a defender and slotted low to the corner. Glengad then equalised on 77 minutes after a corner saw a scramble develop and Ryan McLaughlin pounced to drill home from close range. With a draw looking likely the visitors forced a corner in the last minute and after the ball broke on the edge of the area Jason Doherty drove powerfully to the top corner to clinch the points.

They increased their advantage midway through the half after a diagonal pass from Eddie McIntyre found Andrew McLaughlin on the right and his cross was slotted home from six yards by Price. On 36 minutes Rasheneys Abdul Rasheed crossed for Keogh whose first time effort on the half volley flew over the crossbar. Keogh then had an even better chance when unmarked at the back post he failed to hit the target with the goal gaping as the half ended scoreless. The visitors had the better of the second half with a long range Kevin Wallace effort sailing over before good work from Bradley saw his effort turned round the post by replacement keeper McKeever. Rashenny had a gilt edged chance then with Ryan O Donnell s ball over the top releasing Keogh but his goalbound effort was cleared off the line by Wallace. Aileach then had a good chance to snatch the points on 88 minutes after Bradley laid the ball off to Dillon McGrory who failed to hit the target when well placed.

The visitors then had a good spell of possession but failed to create anything of note. On 25 minutes Jamie McDaid  saw a cross cum shot clawed away by McDonagh before the ball was recycled out to the left where McDaids pin point cross was slotted home from six yards by Sean Mullan. It got better for the home side on37 minutes with a superb team goal. Adam Curran began the move feeding Sean Mullan who flicked the ball onto Kieran McDaid  whose superb cross picked out Jamie McDaid on the edge of the area. He composed himself before drilling a superb effort to the bottom corner from the edge of the area. Buncrana then made it three nil just before the interval when Mullan collected the ball on half way and spread a diagonal pass to the right for Kieran McDaid who beat his marker and from a tight angle clipped the ball over McDonagh to the net. The visitors had an early half chance when Jamie Hamilton found space but his long range effort was comfortably gathered by Kelly. The Hearts regained the upper hand and increased their lead when  after brilliant work by Kieran McDaid  took him past two defenders he unsrlfishly squared for Mullan to slot home. Midway through the half Mcdaids corner was headed to the roof of the net by Ryan Doherty to make it five nil. Mullan was then denied his hat trick on two occasions when McDonagh made fine saves before at the other end another Hamilton long range shot was saved by Kelly.  Buncrana completed the scoring on 83 minutes after  Mullan cross as deflected to the net by an unfortunate defender.

Whitestrand went close minutes later when  James Tourish crossed from the left for Diarmuid Lynch whose header went just past the left hand post. The visitors then got back on terms on the stroke of half time after Michael Sweeney  collected a long kick out rounded an defender and fired low past Michael McCole. Redcastle began the second half well and on 47 minutes McConway rounded a defender and unleashed a shot which the visitors defence hacked away for a corner. Minutes later Kevin Doherty advanced from midfield for the home side past two defenders but shoots just past the left hand post. Whitestrand responded with Lynch crossing for Sweeney whose effort was cleared by a defender before Gareth Terry advanced through the middle and fire over the bar. The home side upped the tempo then and McConway was denied by a brilliant save low to his right by Carr.  Redcastle took the lead then on 80 minutes after jack Ferry crossed from the left for McConway to head home from eight yards. They sealed their passage to the semi finals when  Cathal Crumlish latched onto a ball over the top before shooting low past Carr.

Stephen O Donnell had an early half chance for the home side after good work from Conor McMacken but Kevin McGowan saved well. Rovers replied with  Jordan Saville seeing an effort saved by David McGeady. Before the break the home side  saw a Sean McHugh effort from twenty yards drift wide. Rovers started the second half well and Kieran McGee scuffed a chance when well placed before they were reduced to ten men on the hour after a defender collected a second yellow card. They took the lead on 75 minutes however a poor clearance fell to McGee who slipped the ball low past McGeady from twelve yards. But the home side levelled late on and forced extra time when after good work from Michael McElroy his cross was headed home by Cathal McElhinney. In the first period of extra time the visitors regained the lead when Saville s effort was well parried by McGeady but McGee reacted first to slot home. With time running out Aileach forced a penalty shootout when McElhinney released O Donnell and he squared the ball for Dermot Doherty to tap home. In the shoot out the home side missed two spot kicks and rovers advanced four two on penalties.

The Game was reversed to Carrickboyle Gweedore and was played in very windy conditions on Saturday evening. Greencastle started the game on the front foot with a couple of early corners but it was  Gweedore took the lead 5 minutes into the game through Jamie McGee who was put through and finished well. Greencastle equalized through Kyle Harkin who after a mazy run through defenders scored a lovely goal into the bottom corner. Midway through the half  Greencastle took the lead when a great pass by Ronan Farran put Ronan Doherty clear and he slid it past the keeper into the far corner. But 

Gweedore drew level when a cross from the right wing fell to Mark McFadden who finished smartly into the  bottom corner. Greencastle regained the lead then when a beautiful lofted pass from Christy Hegerty was met by Ronan Farren whose header looped over the keeper and into the net. But Gweedore scored to level the game for a third time just before half time when a ccramble in the box was slotted home by Stephen Doyle McFadden.It was a very even start to the second half with both teams battling hard for the first 20 minutes.

Midway through the half  Greencastle scored direct from a corner. Joshua Lafferty sent in an in-swinging corner which was deflected into the net by the Gweedore defence to put the Inishowen side four three ahead. Minutes  later Matthew McFadden in nets for Gweedore made a great save from a Shea Doherty effort from the edge of the box. Greencastle increased their lead in the 75th minute Kyle Harkin stepped up to score another trademark free kick. 

With a minute of normal time left Gweedore nearly pulled a goal back when after a few headers over and back the box one bounced of the bar and Greencastle defence cleared. Gweedore piled on the pressure now and a minute into added time Ciaran McFadden was sent through one on one but Evan Davenport made a great save to keep Greencastles two goal advantage intact. Then a  twenty five  yard drive from Mark McFadden brought another fantastic save from Davenport. In the sixth minute of added time Gweedore reduced the deficit to a single goal when Darren Ferry finished at the back post after a low cross which turned out to be the final kick of the game as Greencastle advanced to the semi finals.

The home side started this local derby the better with Fergal Doherty pouncing on a loose ball thirty five yards out and unleashing an effort which clipped the bar on its way over. They took the lead  minutes later after John G McDermott broke on the left and when his cross fell to Stephen McLaughlin he  drilled low to the corner from the edge of the area. Midway through the half they made it two nil after a poor clearance by the visitors was seized on by Joe Doherty whose twenty five yards shot eluded  McLaughlin. Culdaff rallied and finished the half strongly with Ryan Greene finding Jack McLaughlin on the edge of the area and he turned and drilled a left footed effort inches wide. McLaughlin again went close when he collected a Dillon Ruddy pass and advanced to unleash an effort from twenty yards which was again just off target.Culdaff started the second half well and after Keith Norris released Michael Coyle on the right his cross was  cleared to  Ruddy whose effort from the edge of the area was brilliantly saved by Ciaran Gallagher. Then substitute Darren Mullarkey  and Bryan McCandless combined well on the edge of the area but the latters effort was straight at Gallagher. Glengad responded and on 80 minutes after McDermott sent Terence Doherty clear but he fired wide from the edge of the area. Minutes later Doherty made no mistake when  he latched onto a long Matthew Byrne  ball and rounded Mclaughlin to drill home. Culdaff had the final chance after a Norris cross was met with a glancing header from McCandless came off the post.
