Played under the lights on Friday evening, Gleneely gave as good as they got against the vastly experienced Premier outfit in Glengad.

Glengad started well and were awarded a penalty on 10minutes when Terence Doherty was brought down in the box. Matthew Byrnes poorly taken effort went wide of the post. Ten minutes later, Conor Barrow crossed for Terence Doherty to head on target but Ben Miller tipped it over the bar. A minute later Glengad went one up when a Cathal McDaid cross was poked home at close range by JG Mclaughlin. On the stroke of half time, good work by Barrow released Terence Doherty to smash the ball home from the edge of the box to make it two nil. They went three up five minutes after the restart, when a Conor Barrow cross took a deflection and looped in over Ben Miller. Stephen McLaughlin scored a free from 25 yards to make it four. To their credit, Gleneely stuck to their task, stifling Glengad and nearly pulled a goal back when Adrian Duffy saw Houghton off his line and the ball just went wide of the post from the half way line. Good work by Corey O Brien, released Paul Gamble but his effort went wide of the post.

​​​​​Greencastle created the first chance of the game when Eamon Donnelly played the ball out to Stephen Grant on the right wing but his deep cross evaded everybody. With 15 minutes gone Jamie McCormack for Greencastle shot just over the bar after good build up play.A Matthew Henry free kick was then headed clear by Thomas McMacken. With 20 minutes gone a Kevin Doran shot from 25 yards was well gathered by greencastle keeper Dylan Doherty. A Donnelly free from 25 yards was then well saved by David McGeady in the aileach goals.Greencastle earned a corner 28 minutes in after a Nigel McMonagle shot was blocked, the corner from Henry was headed clear by Mark McElhinney. With 5 minutes to go to half time aileach had a chance when Gavin Doherty evaded three challenges and squared for Doran who shot just wide of the right hand post. Greencastle took the lead with 3 minutes to go to half time after Matty Henry won the ball in midfield, evaded a couple of challenges and played the ball up to McMonagle who played a first time flick in to the path of James Henry who slotted home from 8 yards out.  With 5 minutes of the second half gone ,  a Matthew Henry free kick was headed clear by McMackan and 2 minutes later an Eamon Donnely free kick deep into the box was well gathered by aileach keeper McGeady,  A Matthew Henry corner, after brilliant wing play by Grant, was again headed clear by McMacken. With 15 minutes of the half gone Dermot Doherty for aileach shot just wide from 25 yards . Greencastle went 2-0 up with 22 minutes of the second half gone after Donnelly played the ball out to Gavin Harkin on the left wing who played a pass into the box which substitute Christy Hegarty brilliantly squared back for Jamie Mc Cormack to half volley home from 8 yards out.An aileach corner was then cleared by Mark Henry. With 35 minutes of the second half gone Christy Hegarty broke down the left wing and laid the ball back to Jamie Mc Cormack whose cross was well claimed by aileach keeper David Mc Geady. Greencastle controlled possession for the remainder of the game but were reduced to 10 men when Eamon Donnely was awarded a second yellow card for a tackle in midfield.

Glengad opened the scoring in the first minute after Stephen McLaughlin broke on the right and fed Terence Doherty to fire low past Johnathan Noone from eight yards. Good interplay on 15 minutes between James McKinney and McLaughlin saw the latters cross swept home by Conor Barrow. Before the break a long defensive clearance saw Doherty collect possession, hold off two defenders before drilling past Noone from sixteen yards. Illies frst chance came after 49minutes and they should have reduced the deficit but Paddy Doherty headed wide at the back post after great play from Gavin Doherty. But Glengad responded and when McKinney sent Barrow clear he fired wide. But Barrow got his second of the game on 58 minutes when he converted Doherty’s cross from twelve yards.On the hour a long ball from Matthew Byrne released Doherty to round the advancing Noone and complete his hat trick. Illies then had another good opening but Paul Doherty headed a Gavin Doherty cross over the bar. Glengad completed the scoring with Doherty also grabbing a hat trick firing home from the edge of the area after good approach play by John G McDermott and Michael Byrne.

There were few chances in the opening half but the home side had the best of them. Glengad went close on 15 minutes after a PJ McDaid effort was well saved by Kyle Dougal. They took the lead on 36 minutes after Matthew Mullarkey fired home in a goalmouth scramble. Cockhill started the second period well and on 55 minute Shay McLaughlin had a powerful effort saved by Oran Raymond. Glengad replied and after a long clearance from Brian Doherty found Gary Kelly his effort was well saved by Dougal. But the visitors equalised on 70minutes when Sean Donaghey converted a rebound from his penalty after Keegan Hegarty was upended. When the home defence failed to deal with a Hegarty cross minutes later Christopher Duffy fired home the winner. Glengad had a late chance but Patrick McDermott saw his effort saved.

Moville clinched the league title and promotion back to the premier division after a three season absence with this hard fought win. Played in windy conditions, Moville had the first chance when a ball by Shane Canning to Conor Lafferty who shot wide from ten yards when well placed. Gleneelys first chance fell to JJ Doherty, who headed over Dylan McDaids corner. JJ Doherty threatened again when he won the ball in midfield and unleashed a thunderbolt which the keeper saved well. Moville went one up on the half hour after a Shane Canning ball found Nathan Harkin to slot home at the back post. Moville went two up in the 55th minute  when a back pass from the defender to Eddie McNamee went short and Caolan Doherty scored into the empty net. Ten minutes later they went three up, with Gleneely trying to play offside and Conor Lafferty  rounded the keeper and slotted into the empty net. The fourth came from another short back pass to Eddie McNamee and Nathan Harkin nipped in to score into the empty net. Gleneely kept plugging away but Moville held out to claim the league.

Aileach started the game brightly with Sean Mc Hugh firing in a shot from 25yards but Mc Gilloway in the away goals smothered at the second attempt. The home team took the lead on 15minutes after Stephen O Donnell played a neat one two with Benny  Hegarty and shot low to the bottom corner. Mc Gilloway then tipped another McHugh effort over the bar. Play then moved up the other end Emyln Doherty played in John Mc Laughlin but his effort was deflected passed the post for a corner. Tyler McBride then headed over the corner kick. Aileach then pushed forward and Pol Mc Grory headed a Mervin Mc Gowan cross just passed the post. Rasheney replied again with shots from Doherty and Mc Laughlin which Bradley in the home goals dealt with. The start of the second half was a drab affair with no real goal mouth action until 70minutes when Mc Laughlin broke through the Aileach defence and when Bradley parried his effort Damien Barr got back to clear off the line.Rasheney were left to rue this within minutes when substitute Aaron Doherty controlled a through ball and hit a ferocious shot which the keeper could only parry and O’Donnell followed up to score. The home team sealed all three points on 80minutes when another substitute Darren Bradley ran onto a long ball up the line and cut inside the defender and fire to the far corner.

QPS Reserves played this entire match with only nine players and may have thought they were in for a torrid time when Clonmany opened the scoring in the 8th minute. Dessie Doherty’s corner from the right was allowed to drop in the 6 yard box and his brother Conor was at hand to finish from close range past David Bellamy in the Q.P.S nets. David Bellamy was called into action against  on 21 minute’s when he tipped Oisin Hession’s 25 yards shot behind for a corner. Pearce McCarron went close for Clonmany in the 25th minute when his header David McGonigle’s left wing cross went narrowly wide. QPS were content to let Clonmany have a lot of possession but defended their 18 yard line  resolutely and they relied on Josh Boyle to hold on to the ball and bring some supporting players into the game when they counter attacked. QPS got through the rest of the first half without conceding and had the advantage of a strong breeze behind them in the second half. Clonmany made it 2-0 on 61minutes when a Clonmany attack was not cleared fully by the QPS defence and the ball broke to Pearce McCarron on the 18 yard line and he struck a low shot to the bottom left hand corner past David Bell. Dessie Doherty went close in the 75th minute when he shot from outside the box but his shot went narrowly wide. QPS almost pulled one back in the 78th minute  when Josh Boyle and Mark Wallace counter attacked and broke Clonmany’s offside trap but Josh’s shot was blocked by Liam McGonigle in the Clonmany nets. The last chance of the match fell to Clonmany when Dessie Doherty sent his brother Conor away down the right wing and he crossed into the box for substitute Thomas Comiskey but his side footed shot went wide of David Bell’s right hand post and Clonmany seen out the remaining minutes to record a 2-0 victory.

Dunree started the game well and spurned  two good openings before they took the lead with a superb strike from distance from Shaun Henderson which gave Kevin Gallagher no chance. Illies had a good chance to restore parity but Ronan Hegarty failed to hit the target when well placed. Illies started the second half better and equalised on the hour mark after Joe McDaid  headed a Frankie O Connor corner past Ryan Fitzpatrick. They took the lead five minutes later after Dominic Doherty found Joseph McLaughlin inside the area and he fired low to the corner.Dunree responded but TJ McKinley failed to hit the target  when well placed. Illies sealed the win late on after the home side failed to deal with a corner and McLaughlin slotted home his second.

The visitors dominated throughout and deservedly claimed the three points. They hit the front as early as eight minutes in when Ciaran Bradley set up Kevin Mc Daid and he scored with a low shot to the net. That lead was doubled half way through the opening period after Tristan Donaghey broke along the left from the half way line and delivered into the area where the ball was swept home by Mc Daid from 12 yards. Then Mc Daid turned to assisting when he laid off inside the box to Donaghey but his powerful shot was just over. Mc Daid continued to be the centre of involvement for Cockhill up front and he was brought down inside the area for a penalty which was dispatched to the net by Damien Friel. Shortly afterwards Mc Daid came close again but his free kick from just outside the box was palmed away for a corner by Declan Grant. The home side’s best effort of the first half came when Trevor Doherty got on the end of a Tiernan Mc Donald free but his shot from close  in was palmed away by Caldwell  and the follow-up from Mark Kelly was blocked almost on the goal line. A minute prior to the break a slip by one of the home defenders allowed the ball through to Mc Daid and he played in Ryan Mallett to find the net from 8 yards and put Cockhill 4 – 0 up. Minutes after the break Mallett was released beyond the Rasheney defence and he rounded the advancing Grant to tap to an open net. The home side came close shortly after this but Kelly’s close range shot found the side net. On 65 mins sub Gary Breslin was released along the right and his delivery into the centre allowed Mc Daid to notch up his hat trick. Rasheney’s Mc Donald had a number of openings to put his side on the scoresheet but he was out of luck. First Caldwell denied him with an excellent save, then he found the side netting and after being set up by Marius Owen Noone he had a shot blocked with the followup just over the crossbar.

Culdaff had the first chance  on 19 minutes when Niall mc Laughlin found himself one on one with the keeper after beating the offside trap and was just about to pull the trigger only for Kevin mc Cauley to make a great last ditch tackle. Five minutes later good work by Mark Doherty and he found Ryan mc Laughlin and his powerful shot was gathered on the second attempt. Culdaff took the lead on the half hour when with culdaff pressing, a back pass into Brian Houton was badly sliced into the path of the incoming Damien Duffy who hammered home from eight yards .They increased their lead on the stroke of half time after a long spell of possession Niall Mc Laughlin received the ball wide on the right and his pinpoint cross was volleyed home at the back post by Jack Mc Laughlin . Carrowmena reduced the deficit on 51 minutes after a corner in from Declan mc Dermot drops in the box and after a number of chances to clear Geard Gill pounced to finish low under Martin mc Laughlin from close range.  But Culdaff struck again on the hour with  another long spell of possession Matt mc Daid play a lovely ball round the corner into the path of Damien Duffy and his first time cross was met by Jack mc Laughlin who’s diving header found the bottom right corner from eight yards. Then Peter McCallion broke down the right and after a one two with Ben Curley he squared to Jack Mc Laughlin who fed Damien Duffy and he drilled the ball low under Houton. Liam Doherty then  fired a pass into Niall Mc Laughlin who controlled well inside the 18 and after a few twists and turns fired low to the bottom left corner for his customary goal. Good holdup play by Micheal Lynch who played the ball off to Conor Byrne whose 25yard effort went inches past the post.Carrowmena had a late chance when Geard Gill found Evan mc Dermott whose well struck shot was well saved by Patrick mc Laughlin in the home goal.

Carrowmena reduced the deficit on 51 minutes after a corner in from Declan mc Dermot drops in the box and after a number of chances to clear Geard Gill pounced to finish low under Martin mc Laughlin from close range.  But Culdaff struck again on the hour with  another long spell of possession Matt mc Daid play a lovely ball round the corner into the path of Damien Duffy and his first time cross was met by Jack mc Laughlin who’s diving header found the bottom right corner from eight yards. Then Peter McCallion broke down the right and after a one two with Ben Curley he squared to Jack Mc Laughlin who fed Damien Duffy and he drilled the ball low under Houton. Liam Doherty then  fired a pass into Niall Mc Laughlin who controlled well inside the 18 and after a few twists and turns fired low to the bottom left corner for his customary goal. Good holdup play by Micheal Lynch who played the ball off to Conor Byrne whose 25yard effort went inches past the post.Carrowmena had a late chance when Geard Gill found Evan mc Dermott whose well struck shot was well saved by Patrick mc Laughlin in the home goal.
