Aileach ,aided with a strong wind , pressed from the start and on 2 minutes Patrick Curran was denied by a fine save from Roger McGilloway in the home goal. The visitors took the lead on 11 minutes when after Curran had an effort blocked Brendan Hegarty blasted high to the net from fourteen yards.Hegarty then glanced a header wide before Daibhidh Grant had a twenty five yards effort well parried by McGilloway. From Shane McMonagle’s inswinging corner McGilloway punched clear from beneath the crossbar. On 33 minutes Grant unleashed another superb effort which McGilloway gathered at the second attempt. Rasheney responded and with Karol Harkin breaking on the right and finding Alan Doherty who controlled well but fired wide. On the stroke of half time Aileach doubled their lead when Grant unleashed a powerful low shot from twenty yards into the bottom corner. Aileach started the second period well and three times in the opening quarter Emmet Burke went close. He fired two efforts off target and when he broke clear of the home defence his attempted chip was clawed away by McGilloway. Rasheney tried hard to get back into the game but their best chance came on 73 minutes when a scramble developed after an Alan Doherty corner but the visitors defence hacked clear.
