A brace of goals from both Corey O’ Brien and Nathan Mc Laughlin got Gavin Mc Laughlin’s tenure as manager of the home side off to a convincing start. They were two ahead early in the game. After just 2 minutes a Mc Laughlin corner into the box was poked home from close in by O’Brien. Five minutes later O’Brien turned provider when he intercepted a pass near the half way line, burst forward to the edge of the area and laid the ball back to Mc Laughlin who slotted home from 6 yards. The home side was dominating and a number of chances were spurned before the scoreline moved to 3 – 0 ten minutes after the break. O’Brien won a ball and laid off to Mc Laughlin who advanced into the box before scoring low to the left from 15 yards. Home keeper Duffy was not seeing too much action in the second half and only a PJ Mc Daid attempt threatened his goal while more chances went a begging at the other end. The fourth goal came close to the end when O’Brien accepted a throw in from Kevin Doherty and advanced unchallenged to score past Michael Mc Laughlin from just inside the area.
