Aileach FC 1
The home side got off to a dream start in the opening minute against an under strength Aileach when Michael Byrne and Patrick McDermott combined in midfield for the latter to relase Terence Doherty through the middle to fire low past John Roulstone from eighteen yards. Aileach replied when Darren McMonagle beat a defender and fired just wide of Kevin McLaughlin’s left hand post. At the other end Stephen McLaughlin fed Matthew Byrne and he fired a twenty yards effort which crashed off the bar. Good work by Doherty on the left saw his cross pick out Nigel McMonagle but his effort was cleared off the line by Cathal McElhinney. The home side made it two on 37 minuets when Shane Canning’s ball over the top released Doherty to lift the ball over the advancing Roulstone. In the second period James McKinney’s run and cross was headed just over by Michael Byrne. On 53 minutes McDermott split the Aileach defence for Doherty to round Roulstone and slot home and complete his hat trick. On the hour McKinney released Doherty on the right and his cross saw McMonagle somehow fire wide. On 86 minutes McKinney advanced from the right and crossed for McDermott to slot home from six yards. Aileach got a consolation in the final minutes after McMonagle fed Ronan Coyle on the edge of the area and he unleashed a superb effort to the top corner.
