Inishowen came from behind twice to top their group ahead of Monaghan Cavan League in Maginn This evening

Monaghan Cavan took the lead after 20 seconds when Enda Hessian crossed for his brother Garry to volly past Darragh Mc Laughlin in the Inishowen net, Inishowen replied and leveled on the 3rd min when Matty Henry was fouled on the edge of the ares and Brendan Mc Laughlin dispatched the free to the bottom corner of the net, on 11 min Anthony Dohherty crossed for Terence Doherty in the box but he failed to control the ball, a Monaghan/ Cavan free from just inside the half way line found Ronan Stirrett and he volleyed wide and the same player was unlucky moments later with a scorpion kick which was just over the bar, Matty Henry then had a good run which saw his shot across keeper Jack Smith just wide, Monaghan/ Cavan regained the lead on 30 min when the Hessian brothers combined again Enda crossing for Garry to power a header past keeper Mc Laughlin, Matty Henry then shot wide from a Terence Doherty cross as half time approached, 6min into the second half Monaghan/Cavan’s David Mc Antee almost increased their lead bringing a excellent save from Mc Laughlin who turned his effort behind for a corner, and Mc Laughlin saved well from Mc Antee moments later, the game changed in the space of two min on the 55th and 56 min Inishowen’s switch in formation paid off firstly Matty Henry got on the end of a long throw into the area and he drove low past the stranded Smith and right from the restart Henry gained possession and advanced on the right played a lovely ball into the path of Anto Doherty to slot low past Smith to give Inishowen the lead for the first time in the game, Inishowen went further ahead on 65 min when Anto Doherty found Michael Barr and he beat the keeper from 10 yards for 4-2, Anthony Doherty then made it 5-2 with a fine from the corner of the area curling past Smith to the far corner of the net, Monaghan/ Cavan then got a third when a shot deflected off a defender and Past Mc Laughlin, but Inishowen wern’t finished and added two superb goals to their tally the first from Brendan Mc Laughlin a fine run and finish and then Terence Doherty set up Nigel Mc Monagle to round off the scoring so once again Inishowen top their group and advance to the last eight
