Report

Cockhill Youths             2

Clonmany Res              2

The visitors started the game well and on 8minutes the home defence stopped appealing for a ball out of play but Jake Harkin advanced and crossed for Aaron Harkin to tap in at the back post.

But midway through the half the home side equalised when after Sean Doherty’s free kick rebounded off the wall to the same player he lashed it past Liam McGonigle from twenty yards. Clonmany responded and Jake Harkin headed narrowly wide at the back post  before they regained the lead when Conor Doherty fired a stunning effort to the top corner from twenty yards. Clonmany seemed to settle for what they had and were content to protect their lead in the second half. They made it very difficult for the home side who struggled to create chances. On 65minutes a Thomas Doherty effort was well tipped onto the bar by McGonigle. But on 83 minutes Cockhills persistence paid off when Darragh McDermott found space inside the area to fire low past McGonigle from twelve yards. McDermott almost won the game for the home side when a twenty five yards snapshot was gathered at the second attempt by McGonigle.
