The visitors took the lead early on when Declan Caldwell’s goal kick was headed back over the defence by James Gillespie to Anthony Doherty (S) and he rounded the keeper to put his side ahead. Cockhill responded and Mc Geady had to save from Daniel M Doherty after Darragh Mc Dermott’s initial free was blocked. The lead was increased when Conor Mc Mackin, free inside the area, managed to hook the ball past Caldwell. The home side got back into the game when Sean Doherty, positioned at the back post, fired past Mc Geady. The game then developed into a midfield battle until the hour mark when Cockhill equalised. Daniel Martin Doherty delivered forward to James Mc Gonagle and when his toe poked effort came back off the upright Thomas Doherty was on hand to hit the ball home from close in. At this stage the home side looked the more likely to score but Aileach were looking very dangerous on the break with Anthony Shivey prominent. Mc Feeley’s missed a great opportunity for Aileach when he drove over the bar from close in but they did claim victory right at the death when Adam Barr broke the offside trap and shot low past Caldwell.
